Welcome to our blog! This is an introduction to a series of future posts called Active learning with MEDX Adventures which is going to be a blended sweet, sour maybe bitter smoothy of my friends and my own active learning experiences.

Okay lets be serious here! You guys might already be like yo Saint whai dooo wi need to knooo about this and here is why; Because learning passively is much easier and comfortable than active learning students usually tend to choose it over learn actively. After all it is much easier to just read through lecture slides or watch a YouTube video than make flashcards, notes, mind maps etc.

Although active learning is a more challenging and time-consuming style, it gives you a deeper understanding. This is because while learning actively you are more engaged, and you think harder than when you are listening to a lecture.

In the future we are going to write more about this in our active learning series by introducing you to the following top 10 studying techniques which we found to be useful.

1- Making flash cards: you can use different apps or make your own hand made flash cards.

2- Writing questions: some students find designing questions from lecture slides useful. You can also have nice personalized question bank during revision time.

3- Taking notes: This one is the most time consuming and is the most classical approach in my opinion.

4- Creating a mind map: making a mind map makes it easy to go back to different topic and revise them faster, this one is my own personal favorite.

5- Learning through teaching: 'If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you probably don't understand it yourself. ' -Einstein! You can say you have mastered a topic when you can teach it to others, so try to explain things to someone or just yourself.

6- Discussion: while hanging out with your classmates or friends you can always start discussing topics that you find hard and through talking about it you can start to learn.

7- Game based learning: you compete with your friends using different apps and learn while playing!

8- Personal links: sometimes linking topics to something in your own life makes memorizing easier. This can be just a name or even a location in your room like your desk.

As mentioned earlier we are going to spend more time on each of these later in future series.
